Creator & Role Information
Nakbin
Habaek's first love - She is the very reason why every year, a bride must be sacrificed to Habaek. She was revealed to be the very first human that Habaek met, and with her young age, the water god promised himself that she is to become his bride. When she was alive, she often talk to Habaek about the spider lily which symbolizes a hopeful but tragic fate of lovers. Hoo-Ye cared for her a great deal as she was his sister and she was very attached to him, though she despised humans for using Hoo-ye. Nakbin apparently died long ago, though those bearing her appearance continue to appear before Habaek. When she died, Habaek promised that he would return to her, no matter what her form is once she reincarnated. She later appears at the Emperor's palace, alive only due to the Emperor's magic; her body cannot be sustained outside the Imperial Country. The Emperor supposes that by doing this, he can force Habaek to stay in the Imperial Country. Eventually, it was revealed that Nakbin was forced to connived with the Emperor's plan to save her dying brother. However, instead of killing Habaek, she put in a curse on him making his power diminish during the day so he won't be used against the fire gods. In Chapter 77, Nakbin asked Habaek if she is his one and only bride. Habaek answers that he is already bound to a soulmate, but that person is not her. However, Habaek reassures Nakbin that even so, he would not send her away. Nakbin declared that Habaek should have lied to her, and that she would never undo the curse even if she was born again. Nakbin then decided to get rid of the spell and give back in to death which surprised Habaek. Before turning back into nothingness, she told Habaek that the reason of her current miserable existence is him, wishing that Habaek will be able to let her go sooner, but then he cannot even though he knew she's been long dead. When Habaek followed Soah to the Moon Palace, he vowed that he will look at Soah with his remaining eye, honoring Nakbin's command of not looking to someone with the same eyes he used to look at her though she had forgiven him for looking at someone else.
