1000 years after the Goddess' death, the world sits torn between humans and demigods. Disgruntled humans who did not recieve Her blessings began trafficking and harvesting parts of the demigods She left behind. Caught in the middle is the last phoenix, hiding among humans in a quiet village as a fisherman. Clouded by his need for freedom and his hot overheating head, Phynix ignores the warning of a demon merc and his human father, and heads out into the night despite the lingering danger.

In 1927 St. Louis, National Prohibition is in full effect and gangsters, flappers, crooked police and government agents are amok. In the midst of the heady chaos of the Jazz Age, the Lackadaisy Speakeasy, manned by a spirited gang of ne'er-do-wells, struggles to stay in business and out of the crosshairs of both the law and rival bootleg operations.
