I’m guessing that since his supernatural abilities is the reason he is deaf, it wouldn’t matter if he tries to have an implant put in to help him hear. Those kind of procedures only help when there is a physical problem with the limb or organ. If his ear is perfectly fine and there is no physical ailment but his supernatural abilities are the reason he cannot hear, then the implant has nothing to fix and would not help him.

I can really understand why he's angry when he says he should just get a cochlear implant since I also am deaf and it wouldn't work for me. It always depends on the person.
