    Help out with bullying always by recording it, getting a teacher, stopping bullies directly if safe, etc. The personal way she did this didn't stop the bullying and undoubtedly made him believe she cared about him personally. Acting coy and sympathetic implies a higher level of emotion connection than she had. Being angry with the bullies would have been a more accurate reaction as well as encouraging him to report them. Then he would not have been emotionally confused.

    She offered kindness ... that’s not something that should be regretted ... the sad part is that he is so used to that type of treatment that he took her kindness the wrong way ... but man ... you got a wife and beautiful daughter now ... cherish them .. forget the past, look for treatment
